Software as a Service

Software as a Service is not a new concept, and OffRoad Software is certainly not the first company to provide Software as a Service. However, the service model developed by OffRoad Software was specifically designed to address many of the shortcomings that we have seen with current commercial GIS solutions. It was our intent to develop a fully integrated and supported GIS service that allows you to focus on your business processes, which ultimately is the development and maintenance of your data, NOT your technology infrastructure. After all, your investment really should be in data development that gets your job done, rather than the development of expertise in the management of complex technology solutions.

Beyond basic usability issues, we also recognized the headaches and the costs associated with deploying complex technology infrastructure, and our service model is designed to make it much easier for you to deploy GIS services:

  • Start-up costs are a thing of the past - There are no start-up costs associated with the OffRoad GIS service model. Since we are using a mixture of open source and commercial software, our costs are much lower than our competitors. In the end we transfer these savings on to you. All you need to do is sign up for the service, and we take care of the rest.
  • OffRoad GIS is provided as subscription service - This makes it easy for you to develop and maintain your budget as there are no hidden costs or surprises. The only costs that you need be concerned with are the monthly fees associated with the OffRoad GIS service.
  • No Contractual Commitments - The OffRoad GIS service is provided using a month-to-month structure. In other words, we do not believe in locking you into a long term commitment. We believe that OffRoad GIS is a compelling solution and we think you will as well. However, if you do not find value in the service, you can terminate the service at any time with no penalties or fees. Any data that you have developed within the OffRoad GIS system can easily be exported in industry standard formats so that it can be used with any other commercial GIS solution. After all, it is your data.
  • We provide the server, the backup, and the software - We provide the server, backup solution and all of the software. All equipment is refreshed and replaced using a 36 month maintenance window. When equipment is replaced or when new software is installed, you are assured that it has already been tested against your environment. All of your data is backed up offsite nightly to provide both backup and disaster recovery options for your county.
  • Maintenance and upgrade costs are a thing of the past - Our subscription service takes care of all that. No hidden fees. Everything is included in the monthly service fee. This includes both upgrades to the commercial components of the OffRoad GIS system as well as internal enhancements to the OffRoad GIS system.
